A gem of a local Italian restaurant. Excellent regular menu in addition to seasonal and other daily specials. Attentive service, with a nice dining room, and good Italian music adding to the ambience. We now go at least once every few weeks – there is enough variety and rotation of specials to keep each visit […]

A wonderful French bistro located in Lake Zurich. This is a cozy restaurant with tables mostly well-spaced and positioned throughout an intimate interior. The bistro features monthly specials which are usually worthwhile, along with featuring a good prix-fixe option everyday. The goat cheese salad is outstanding with a soy vinaigrette, the November Cassoulet de Carcassone […]

Tokio Pub

A small bite restaurant that, I think, was still working out some kinks when we visited. Service was good, portions were small by design, and I wouldn’t recommend going here when hungry. Assortments of tacos with creative fillings were the best choices, everything else was not extraordinary enough to warrant another visit. Visited August 2015.

Our second visit to this restaurant and this time we liked it. We visited here a long while back, sat outside, and experienced slow service and uneven quality. This visit the service was very ggod and the food was wonderful. The appetizers are very similar to Di Pescara in Northbrook, with the Calamari and Shrimp […]

After visiting Topaz Cafe, we wondered why we hadn’t encountered and tried this venue before. With a fine dining menu, beautiful dining room, expansive and covered outdoor deck, coupled with extremely friendly and knowledgeable service, this restaurant became one of our favorites after just one visit. The outdoor deck alone is so wonderful, that it […]

What a wonderful restaurant. Considering the uniqueness of the building itself, the bar and casual dining area on the first floor and the more formal (though still casual and comfortable) third floor dining room, this restaurant packs visual appeal in addition to having spectacular food and wine. The food at the restaurant is stellar. We […]

Deka Brasserie

A fairly unique and well executed take on a French Brasserie with some non-traditional menu items as well. A nice, bright dining room with colorful accents make for a pleasant dining environment. A fairly good wine list with reasonable pricing. We were there early on a Saturday and had great service by a very knowledgeable […]

Saranello’s

An always lively, casual Italian restaurant, Saranello’s has a few things going for it. The atmosphere is “loudish” since there are a lot of wood surfaces in the restaurant. Having said that, there are six good sized booths in the main dining area along with several in the bar. The booths tend to be just […]

Located at 2121 N Clark Street in Chicago is a unique and wonderful pizza place – and for Chicago, it is unique. The pizzas start as pizza pot pies in a bowl with the dough baked on top. Each pizza consists of triple-raised Sicilian bread-type dough; a homemade sauce consisting of olive oil, fresh garlic, […]
