We spent an incredible 8 days at Sabi Sabi, spreading our days equally between Bush Lodge and Selati Camp. Both lodges had there respective charm, with service excellent at both. Bush lodge is larger, with more extensive services, Selati is quainter with an incredible sense of intimacy. Both have their respective appeal and I’d be hard pressed to recommend one over the other. One thing I can emphatically state – the experience of game drives and safari walks combined with the service and educational excellence from our rangers made for an extraordinary visit. We had the pleasure of visiting South Africa, with our first stop a four night layover in Johannesburg. We stayed in a very nice hotel, an Orient-Express hotel, The Westcliff. While staying there, we had the pleasure of visiting some wonderful local restaurants, in addition to some wonderful local attractions. Moyo and Pigalle were both outstanding places for dinner in Johannesburg. Additionally, hot air ballooning, walking with lions, elephant trekking and just general shopping and meeting local residents made the experience very fulfilling. The flight to Johannesburg from Chicago is a tedious one, with a 7.5 hour flight to London Heathrow, followed by a 12 hour flight to Johannesburg on British Airways our choice. Photos. September 2011
