Ballooning Over the Cradle of Humankind

Johannesburg, South Africa

by Administrator on September 10, 2011

We had the pleasure of visiting South Africa, with our first stop a four night layover in Johannesburg. We stayed in a very nice hotel, an Orient-Express hotel, The Westcliff. While staying there, we had the pleasure of visiting some wonderful local restaurants, in addition to some wonderful local attractions. Moyo and Pigalle were both outstanding places for dinner in Johannesburg. Additionally, hot air ballooning, walking with lions, elephant trekking and just general shopping and meeting local residents made the experience very fulfilling. The flight to Johannesburg from Chicago is a tedious one, with a 7.5 hour flight to London Heathrow, followed by a 12 hour flight to Johannesburg on British Airways our choice. Photos.
