Las Vegas in April

by Administrator on May 3, 2011

Our annual trip to Las Vegas had many highlights, including some old and some new experiences. On this trip we more fully explored Aria and also the newly opened Cosmopolitan. Hits for dining were Julian Serranno at Aria and Sirio Ristorante also at Aria. Both had outstanding food, service and atmosphere – along with great wine selections – Spanish at Julian Serranno’s and of course Italian at Sirio’s. We enjoyed Sirio’s so much, we went back a second time after having had a very disappointing evening at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. The disappointing dinner experience at the Eiffel Tower restaurant was mostly based on the lack of quality in the food – soup and appetizer selections were bland and mostly flavorless and my braised short rib dinner was extremly dry and tough – not a good sign for braised short ribs. Our beef wellington was also marginal in that it was probably blue rare when served. It is always difficult to get beef wellington right, especially if ordered medium rare plus, but this was basically a kitchen out of control with no-one paying attention to the quality of food going to customers. What a disappointment for a dinner which should have been 5 stars based on the price and reputation. We’ll avoid the Effiel Tower in the future based on the myriad of better choices in Las Vegas.
Other highlights included Elvis at Aria, a fantastic Cirque show which we were seing for a second time, as always the Fountains of Bellagio, breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi and brunch at Jasmine. April 2011. Enjoy the photos.
