I remember twenty years ago one had to drive to Halsted street in Chicago for great Greek food. Now there are many more options. One of those is simply an outstanding restaurant in Vernon Hills. The restaurant space had three or four previous incarnations, but the transformation for Opa! is truly special, with a beautiful, airy, two story dining room, and a spectacular patio in the summer. The managers are extremely attentive, the food excellent, and the selection of Greek wines is very strong. Last Visit: August 2011 Link

  1. I ended up here on your website after reading your Equinox reviews on Cruise Critic. Loved reading your comments there and here, and seeing all the pictures. We will be on her in two weeks. Can’t wait. Although this Chicago winter hasn’t been too bad, it’s still cold and snowy out there.
Then, I saw your links to Chicago restaurants, and you have mentioned many of our favorite places. Opa, though, is one of our very favorites. We go there quite often; their fish dishes, salads and pastitio are wonderful! We don’t live too far from Opa, and sitting outside on the patio on a beautiful summer evening is just the best. So glad you liked it, too.
Thanks for all your work on this site!
