We had the pleasure of seeing Tom Jones at the Ravinia Festival this July. This was our 5th or 6th time seeing this performer and he continues to put on a great show. We have seen him previously at the Rosemont Theatre and in Las Vegas. The best venues for his act continue to be the smaller theatres such as at the MGM, but Ravinia was also a good place to see him. His voice is as strong as ever, he performs non-stop from beginning to end, and mixes his classics with new songs from current albums. His blues performances are some of his best as when he does his take of “Grandma’s Hands”, a Bill Wither’s tune or “Sometime’s We Cry” by Van Morrison. This time Mr. Jones was joined by the Squirrel Nut Zippers, a band we knew nothing about previously but thoroughly enjoyed.
